FAQ

Common questions

The short version: EconIndx helps you find and understand data sources, but provider terms still control the underlying data.

What is EconIndx?

EconIndx is a curated directory of economic, financial, and statistical data sources. It focuses on access details, APIs, formats, provider caveats, and practical notes for people building data workflows.

What does Status Tracker measure?

Status Tracker checks whether each listed source is reachable and whether a meaningful public content or data probe works. Paid, gated, or blocked sources are classified that way instead of being treated as normal site outages.

How do I report wrong source details?

Email the source name, URL, what looks wrong, and any provider documentation link that confirms the correction. A GitHub issue is best when the correction should stay visible and trackable.

Can I suggest a data source?

Yes. Send the source name, homepage, data access page, and a short note about what it covers. Sources with stable public access, clear documentation, or broad economic coverage are easiest to add.

Can I use EconIndx in my own project?

You can reference the directory and link to pages freely. The underlying datasets belong to their providers, so always check each provider terms before using their data in a product or pipeline.

Are pricing and access details guaranteed?

No. Providers change plans, APIs, rate limits, and login requirements. EconIndx aims to keep these notes useful, but you should confirm details with the provider before relying on them.

Source tracking

Status Tracker reports recent source availability in a simple 24-hour view.

Better source plans

Each source is being classified by access model, probe method, and what level of monitoring is actually reliable.

Dataset coverage

The next useful layer is a cleaner catalog of important datasets inside each source, after tracking is trustworthy.
